"Unable are the Loved to die for Love is Immortality" ~ Emily Dickinson.
News Flash, Folks . . . my book is now live on Amazon!
Please go online and check it out! There are all sorts of interesting tidbits of info on the book site page, plus lots of Daniel Schmelling’s surreal and exotic illustrations and samples of my poems. (Please check out later in this newsletter a fabulous gift offer for the book!) One of the many fun items on my Amazon book site page is the following banner, with Emily Dickinson’s horses’ theme from her poem Because I could not stop for Death linked to the Age of Aquarius.
And get this, I kid you not: According to some astrologers, the actual Age of Aquarius begins today . . . not just this month, but TODAY, November 19, 2024! (More about that shortly . . .)
When the moon is in the Seventh House And Jupiter aligns with Mars Then peace will guide the planets And love will steer the stars This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius The Age of Aquarius . . . Aquarius! Aquarius! Harmony and understanding Sympathy and trust abounding No more falsehoods or derisions Golden living dreams of visions Mystic crystal revelation And the mind's true liberation Aquarius! Aquarius!
I was actually a teenager in the late sixties (yes, a hippie of the sixties!) when this song, sung by the popular quintet The Fifth Dimension, exploded onto the pop charts and filled our west coast air waves several times a day. (Go play it on You Tube and turn up the volume . . . you won’t be disappointed!)
My sister and I and our friends sprawled on the warm sands of Kitsilano Beach in Vancouver, Canada, during long languid late 60’s summers. Our baggy T-shirts were tie-dyed, our long unkempt hair parted in the middle. We grooved to the soaring voices of The Fifth Dimension singing Aquarius from our boxy radios, dial tuned to the popular CKLG radio station. (My stepfather rather unkindly called it CKLGarbage). It was an era of hope and dreams, a rare era of flower power and incense, peace protests and love-ins, that became indelibly emblazoned on our young, aspiring minds.
Although my knowledge of astrology is limited, to say the least, I have been rather intrigued recently by a pronouncement, shared amongst some astrologers, that the Age of Aquarius actually begins in full-fledged authority this month November, 2024. Apparently, Pluto moves in its permanent transit from Capricorn into Aquarius on today’s date (!) and will remain in Aquarius for 19 years, until March 2043. According to astrologer Meg Moonbeam from the Beyond Mystic news platform . . . “we are in a huge Death point right now”. Yet huge astrological changes are imminent, she declares. On November 7, 2024, the moon moved into Aquarius, “which is a huge shift” she says. Then, once Pluto goes into Aquarius, which is November 19, 2024 (today!) . . . “whoaaa, there’s innovations that none of us are even talking about!” (Meg Moonbeam, Beyond Mystic, November 5, 2024.) The dawning of the Age of Aquarius has gradually intensified over the few decades since the rose-colored days of the 1960s, but now our imaginations can be gripped by the idea that it has truly fully dawned.
